Translation Techniques

ESSAY

b) Leonardi (2010), translation enhances critical reading skills, improves grammatical awareness   and language proficiency, facilitates vocabulary acquisition, and develops intercultural competence.
According to Leonardi (2010) I consider that when it comes to learning a language it is important to develop the four language skills such as listening, speaking, reading and speaking as they allow us to receive information. In this way, when teaching a language, it allows creating different learning strategies that motivate the student and facilitate their explanation
It should be noted that the translation allows us to expand our grammar and correct those words that we wrote erroneously or with punctuation errors. It is important to keep in mind that when writing a text in any language should be written as fluently and ensure that when translating can be understood correctly and properly in any language.
According to Leonardi (2010) the translation develops intercultural competence, this being due to the fact that more and more are traveling to different cultures for different reasons, having as main base the learning of the English language to be properly developed in intercultural communication and in the society.
To conclude, translate is used to understand people from different parts of the world, to be able to establish a verbal communication and to give our different point of view, to read certain instructions that come from electrical appliances and to have a correct use of these, or although the texts We found on the internet that many of them come in this language.

I selected the following postulates “leonardi (2010), translation enhances critical reading skills, improves grammatical awareness and language proficiency, facilitates vocabulary acquisition, and develops intercultural competence”

I think that the translation is an excellent task, where you can improve your skills, because the translation develops your skills and makes them more aware of the structural differences between languages also you can develop several elements of the students’ foreign language competence such as vocabulary, register, word order, reference, linking, tense, mood and aspect, as well as varieties of language.

There are some important things about the translation as an activity in language learning: accuracy, clarity and flexibility. The translation “trains the learner to search (flexibility) for the most appropriate words (accuracy) to convey what is meant (clarity). This combination of freedom and constraints allows the students to contribute their thoughts to a discussion which has a clear focus: the text”

When you are learning English, you need to find an appropriate translation technique for translate some text, this is so important for the student, even in another language

I think that, one of things more important about the translations is about how you can learn new vocabulary, the vocabulary can be the key of the communication There is a reason we tend to travel with a dictionary, not a grammar book. Someday a read “without grammar, very little can be conveyed; without vocabulary, nothing can be conveyed” that’s why that the vocabulary is so important in the learning for a second language

Vocabulary is learned through focused, conscious study, but even more commonly in an indirect manner through listening and reading, using context clues to figure out the meaning.
However, this kind of incidental learning is only possible if the amount of unknown words remains low That is, you must have a significant vocabulary to be able to learn new words from the context in which they appear. This obviously constitutes a clear disadvantage for learners with less vocabulary, but also means that “learners who know more words are able to use those known words to learn even more”.
So next time you are studying, keep in mind that improving your vocabulary means improving your capacity to learn more – your hard work will pay off later in the form of more efficient and effortless vocabulary learning.
I hope this little essay motivating you to carry on with vocabulary studies, I think I will explore how people learn new words. Because That technique will be important for my learning process.

CONCLUSIONS

Jenny Astrid Cerinza
Translation plays an important role in learning a language and is a tool that promotes learning. Although the translation was banned for a long time in the classroom according to Radmila Popovic, we are currently the ones who take advantage of this tool, which allows us to improve and develop new skills in different aspects.
According to Leonardi (2010), using translation in learning a language improves grammar because it allows us to look at the correct order of texts by comparing our mother tongue with the second language, likewise facilitates the learning of new vocabulary, however When we want to translate a text we must focus on writing correctly without using the words of our language so that the translation is correct.
